In Year 2024 the Plug & Abandonment operations on ten wells at our Eschenfelden facility were successfully completed with NAFTA Well Services, that provided the Rig service with the crew and partial engineering support.
The P&A Job was done in a safe manner fully according to the work program and the time schedule. Nafta provided a modern Rig, an experienced Crew and an excellent equipment support. The team showed full understanding of the project aims and meet fully our Safety and Quality requirements. We experienced a high level of communication and full support during the P&A preparation and execution phases. The P&A Job was executed from start to finish without incidents and non-productive time. We also noted the high reliability of the crew and the good cooperation on site.
Based on the positive experience, we consider the NAFTA Well Services as one of our favourite Drilling- and Workover Rig Services providers for the future operations and can fully recommend the services provided.

Working with NAFTA Well Services on our Plug & Abandonment campaign near Kirchheilingen was a very positive experience. NAFTA Well Services took full responsibility for the project as a turnkey provider for the subsurface activities, including rig, crew, coordination of all supporting services, and execution of complex milling operations on non-standard completions. In addition, a dedicated workover engineer from NAFTA Well Services was present on site throughout the project, actively supporting troubleshooting and technical decision-making. This ensured that we received not only operational manpower, but also valuable engineering expertise directly at the wellsite. Even with technically demanding wells, the team handled the work confidently and in a structured way. What stood out most was their hands-on project management and ability to align multiple suppliers into one functioning operation. We would not hesitate to work with NAFTA Well Services again on future P&A projects.

Training description Nafta Well Services

The training was comprehensively prepared and methodically conducted by Nafta Well Services as a tactical and technical exercise focused on gas blowout and gas fire control under realistic operational conditions. The training was led by Raimund Taibl, acting as the main instructor and exercise commander.

Nafta Well Services together with mr. Taibl was responsible for the overall training concept, scenario design, technical setup, coordination of all exercise phases, and continuous safety supervision. The training program was divided into a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical section ensured alignment of procedures, safety principles, and tactical approaches prior to live-fire activities.

The practical training was conducted through progressively escalating scenarios simulating different types of gas releases and gas fires. In the first phase, participants performed gas detection and hazard zone marking, followed by suppression of horizontal, vertical, and inclined gas jets using portable dry powder extinguishers and water streams. Emphasis was placed on correct tactical positioning, selection of extinguishing agents, and team coordination.

The second phase focused on scenarios involving intense radiant heat and lateral flame spread, including casualty rescue from a hazardous area. The exercise was structured into clearly defined functional teams responsible for structure cooling, creation of water barriers, and rescue operations. This phase also included combined firefighting using water and large-capacity dry powder extinguishing systems.

The third phase consisted of controlling a blow out fire using static and mobile monitors. Participants practiced coordinated deployment of multiple monitors, their positioning, connection to pumping equipment, and synchronized fire suppression.

Throughout the entire training, Nafta Well Services ensured professional supervision, operational safety, technical support, and continuous evaluation of procedures. The exercise was designed to provide participants with a highly realistic understanding of gas fire behaviour and the operational demands placed on personnel, equipment, and command during real emergency response situations.

The training was highly professional, well-structured and extremely valuable for our operational work. The cooperation with your instructors and the joint training together with our colleague Mr. Taibl from Austria was excellent and added significant value to the overall experience. The exchange of expertise and international perspectives made the training especially effective and memorable. We can clearly recommend NAFTA Well Services as a competent, reliable and professional partner for high-quality training and technical expertise.

The training in Lozorno at the Nafta Well Services training centre was a very interesting and important experience, both in theory and in practice. With Mr Taibl's vast experience, the theoretical part was never boring and very informative. The highlight for me were the practical exercises at the impressive ERC training facility. Working in the heat and the constant noise was an experience that I think every technical employee and the responsible fire brigades of a natural gas storage facility should have. In dialogue with the fire brigades present, everyone was enthusiastic and grateful to be able to take part in such an exercise. The organisation by Mr. Bichler was perfect as well as the course of the exercises by Mr. Taibl and the HBZS - many thanks for that.
